Switching Payment Providers Without Downtime

A step-by-step checklist for moving your merchant account without losing a single sale.

Most owners stay with a bad processor because they think switching is painful. With a plan, the changeover takes under a week.

Step 1 — Read your current contract. Look for: cancellation fee, equipment lease (often the hidden trap), notice period. We will help you read it.

Step 2 — Pick the right new hardware. See Choosing the Right Clover Device.

Step 3 — Underwrite in parallel. Your new merchant account can be approved while your old one is still active. No gap.

Step 4 — Migrate data. Inventory, employees, menu, and customer lists move over. We do this for you.

Step 5 — Train your team. Clover devices share the same operating system, so 30 minutes of hands-on training is usually enough.

Step 6 — Switchover day. Old terminal off in the morning, new terminal live by lunch. We are on-site or on-call.

Most clients tell us the hardest part was finally making the decision.
